Rep. Ozinga Introduces Bill to Increase Organ Donations

On Thursday, State Representative Tim Ozinga (R – Mokena) introduced legislation to promote organ donations in Illinois further. House Bill 4696 comes at the request of local organ donation advocates, the Maddog Strong Foundation. The bill gives more opportunities for Illinoisans to register as organ donors by allowing the DNR to indicate if a person is an organ donor on hunting licenses.

“Illinois has made great strides over the years to increase our organ donation participation, but we still do not meet the demand. Many would-be donors do not know how to register. This legislation would offer many of our sportspersons across Illinois the opportunity yearly instead of every four years at the Secretary of State’s Office,” Rep. Ozinga stated.

HB 4696 was introduced on January 20th and awaits committee assignment.
